Graphite electrodes are divided into ordinary power graphite electrodes, high-power graphite electrodes, and ultra-high-power graphite electrodes. Ultra-high-power graphite electrodes have high production process requirements and high requirements for raw materials. They mainly use petroleum coke and needle coke as raw materials, and coal tar as binder. According to its quality index, it can be divided into ordinary power graphite electrodes, high power graphite electrodes and ultra-high power graphite electrodes.
The main raw material for graphite electrode production is petroleum coke. A small amount of pitch coke can be added to ordinary power graphite electrodes, and the sulfur content of both petroleum coke and pitch coke cannot exceed 0.5%. Needle coke is also required to produce high-power or ultra-high-power graphite electrodes. The main raw material for aluminum anode production is petroleum coke, and the sulfur content is controlled to be no more than 1.5% to 2%. The petroleum coke and pitch coke should meet the relevant national quality standards.
Processing method of graphite electrode:
There are three main processing methods for graphite electrodes: pressure vibration method, CNC automatic forming method and mechanical processing method.
(1) Pressurized vibration method: The pressurized vibration method requires a special machine tool, and the shape of the electrode master mold is opposite to that of the electrode. The graphite material and the forming tool are placed relative to each other during processing, leaving a certain gap. A machining fluid, which is a mixture of water and abrasive, is injected into it. While passing through the machining fluid, the graphite and forming tool are ultrasonically vibrated. Under the action of the abrasive impact force, the graphite is slightly exfoliated into the desired shape. The abrasive is SiC, B4C or diamond. The coarser the abrasive, the faster the processing speed. When the machine tool is working, the sealing type and the water curtain type are used for processing. EDM suitable for mass production situations.
(2) CNC automatic forming method: The CNC automatic forming method requires a special graphite electrode forming machine, which adopts the numerical control method and has an automatic tool exchange device, which can accommodate multiple tools. In order to improve the processing environment, the graphite electrodes are surrounded by water curtains to prevent the graphite dust from being scattered around. In addition, the wet machining method can also be used to prevent the tool from being worn and the graphite dust from being scattered by the water-soluble cutting fluid. The machine tool has a high-performance filter device, which can separate cutting fluid and graphite chips, and can ensure continuous processing for a long time. It is an ideal special equipment for graphite electrode processing, and is suitable for mold electrode processing. However, its price is high, and it is not widely used in China.
(3) Machining method: The machining method is the main method adopted by the domestic general graphite electrode production units.
Graphite electrodes can be processed by turning, milling, drilling and grinding. In addition, the graphite electrode is prone to fly ash during machining, which adversely affects the processing equipment and operators.
(2) Processing procedure of graphite electrode
1) Graphite immersion oil. Before machining the graphite material, it should be immersed in oil for dozens of hours, so that the oil penetrates into the graphite material, so that the ash powder will not fly during machining, and a smoother surface can be obtained.
2) Paint and scribe lines. After the rough surface of the electrode is roughed, a thin layer of white paint is sprayed on the surface of the scribed line and then scribed, so that the lines are clear and easy to machine.
