The U.S. has imposed new sanctions on Chinese graphite electrode manufacturer Kaifeng Pingmei New Carbon Materials Co., Ltd.-KFCC

According to information released by the US Treasury Department, the US has imposed new sanctions on a Chinese graphite electrode manufacturer  

According to data, Kaifeng Pingmei New Carbon Material Technology Co., Ltd. is located in Chengdong Industrial Park, Kaifeng City, Henan Province. The company has a total investment of 99,984,300 yuan and covers an area of more than 840 acres. It was jointly invested and established by eight shareholders headed by China Pingmei Shenma Group. It was registered in August 2002 as a new carbon company that mainly produces urgently needed domestic super High-power graphite electrodes and their joint products. The main products produced are Φ500mm (20”), Φ550mm (22”), Φ600mm (24”), Φ700mm (28”) ultra-high power graphite electrodes and joints. The company's first-phase production capacity is 22,000 tons per year. Kaifeng Pingmei New Carbon Material Technology Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary of Pingdingshan Sanji Carbon Co., Ltd. Its main products are ultra-high power graphite electrodes with small specifications (diameter Φ500mm and below), high power graphite electrodes, and ordinary power graphite electrodes. As well as different specifications of carbon blocks and other products, the annual production capacity is 20,000 tons.

The Kaifeng Carbon Project was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission and was jointly funded by eight domestic shareholders. Among them are the largest coal company in Henan Province-China Pingmei Shenma Energy and Chemical Group Corporation, and the largest iron and steel company in Henan Province-Anyang Iron and Steel Group. The company, as well as the State Investment Property Management Company, Henan Construction Investment Group, Kaifeng Development Investment Company, etc., their purpose is to improve the production technology and equipment level of large-scale ultra-high power graphite electrodes in the domestic carbon industry, and to change China’s large-scale and high-quality graphite electrodes. Standard ultra-high-power graphite electrodes are completely dependent on foreign imports, which cannot meet the needs of the development of the iron and steel industry, and fill the gap in China's large-scale ultra-high-power graphite electrodes and joint products.
